The Mall antiques arcade is closing !!! - 16 August 2008

DUALPOD IS CLOSING !!!

After nearly 8 months of campaigning we have lost the fight to save the Mall Antiques Arcade and our businesses.  The Developers, London Associated Properties Plc. (LAP) have issued notice to leave by 1st October 2008. This has been issued even though Islington council unanimously refused planning permission and it is unlikely that their appeal will be successful.

We do not know what will happen to the Mall and what LAP plans are.

At present Amanda Mansell the director of DualPod has no immediate plans to relocate, and will therefore be holding a closing down event and sale for all customers who have supported her and her business during the past 3 years. So make this a year one to be organised and start your Christmas shopping in September and benefit from some great offers on some truly unique and individual designer contemporary jewellery!

Although the shop is going, Amanda Mansell is here to stay!  She will continue to operate her jewellery design and bespoke business from her studio in Hatton Garden and continue launching new collections.  She is currently re-branding and working on a new and stunning website, due to be unveiled end of this year / beginning of next.  In October 2008 she will be launching her contemporary jewellery book Adorn, published by Laurence King. More deatils can be found here - www.amanda-mansell.com

If you would like to be kept informed on all of these exciting developments and DualPod’s closing down event with fantastic offers, please add your email address to the news letter at the top of this page.

Thank you for your continued support

Amanda Mansell

WRITE TO THE MAYOR OF LONDON BORIS JOHNSON
reminding him of his comments, on television during his election campaign, for his support of small shops.
Also, as a resident of Islington, Boris Johnson said it (Camden Passage and the Mall) was one of his favourite local spots. He added: “There are lots of places that are sites for what I call special sentimental interest. They have always been under threat from people who want to make a quick buck.”

SAVE THE MALL ANTIQUES ARCADE - 15 March 2008

DUALPOD is under threat! On Wednesday 9 January 2008 all traders in the Mall were issued eviction notices by the owners - London  & Associated Properties PLC (LAP).  On Monday 14 January 2008 the council received a planning application to raise the floor and remove all shops.  LAP are refusing to renew our licenses and all traders have to vacate the building by July 2008.

Not only is the Mall a beautiful example of Victorian Architecture, originally a Tram shed, it is a distinct attraction for visitors, adds character to the area and to Camden Passage, who will also suffer from this development.

There are many unique treasures in London, which sadly are being lost, please help us save this one! You can oppose the application by emailing planning@islington.gov.uk referencing the application number P080135.

If you would like to be kept updated on developments please join the mailing list, by entering your details in the box at the top of this page.
